In a bid to fight global warming, the city launched its first carpool website on Saturday. The website – www.hyderabadcarpool.org – has been done up in a user friendly manner with options for Carpool offers and Carpool wanted to help commuters find suitable carpool partners.
If successful, the move could help cut down pollution levels, fuel expenses and prevent traffic congestion.
“We are all contributors to global warming and there is need to find a solution. If a person is spending Rs 6,000 a month by driving 20 km per day, he will save Rs 3,000 by sharing the vehicle with two more persons commuting on the same route. There will also be two vehicles less on the roads,” Srinivas, founder of the website, said at a press conference.
