Flatulence: Moga’s film Padduram on IBS problem
Cinema being a powerful medium of mass communication, debutant director Ajay Moga is making a film titled Padduram which revolves around a kid who has a flatulence problem. The film tries to tell the world that there is nothing to feel shy about the very problem and that there are natural and herbal cures for that health problem.
Flatulence is excessive intestinal gas and in medical terminology referred to as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), a functional bowel disorder, which causes the people suffering with IBS to belch often or release audible discharge of foul smelling intestinal gas through the anus.
Some of the symptoms of IBS are: feeling like you are not full, when you have already eaten enough, constipation, diarrhea, pain and or cramping, discomfort relieved by using the bathroom, mucus in the stool, bloated feeling, nausea and vomiting.
People who have IBS can have a problem in the gastrointestinal tract. If food is eaten, but does not get completely digested, it may slow the process of excretion and cause the person to have a feeling of being bloated. There is also the problem of overeating, because of the feeling of not being full.
The medical professionals find it difficult to diagnose or treat IBS Symptoms. By all reports, medicine will not cure IBS. Conventional treatments offered by the doctors include antispasmodic drugs, which slow the function of the gastrointestinal tract, but these drugs aren’t very effective and can cause significant side effects
The natural remedies are to have good eating habits and strictly practicing fasting (upavaasam) for one day in a week.
