Hyderabad, Sept 20 (INN): A record amount of Rs 5.85 lakh was realized towards penalty from 1880 persons who were detected committing the offence of ticketless / irregular travel during a Fortress Check conducted at Secunderabad Railway Station from 04:00 hrs to 22:00 hrs on Sept 19 under the direct supervision of A Bharat Bhushan, Chief Commercial Manager, South Central Railway.
This is the highest ever penalty amount realized in a day in any single ticket checking initiative at a Station on SCR. During the checks, the entire Station was fortified and all possible exit routes were sealed by Security Personnel. For carrying out the check, 150 Ticket checking staff, 24 Railway Protection Force personnel including women constables were pressed into action under the direct supervision of Shri A. Bharat Bhushan, Chief Commercial Manager, South Central Railway. 71 Express trains, 26 Passenger trains and 50 MMTS trins were thoroughly checked without leaving any scope for the errants to escape.
The effect of the fortress check resulted in 7 per cent increase in the sale of journey tickets and 12 per cent increase in the sale of platform tickets across the counters in the station.
