Photo Exhibition on 160 years of Indian Railways Takes off
Hyderabad, July 20 (INN): A week-long photo exhibition on the 160 years of Indian Railways was inaugurated at Eastern Block of Salarjung Museum here on Saturday.
Speaking after inaugurating the exhibition, South Central Railway General Manager DP Pande said that from its humble beginning on 16th April, 1853, Indian Railways has journied a long way and has entered into its 160th years of fruitful service to the nation in this year. Existence of an organisation for such a long years in service braving many odds that came its way is really a thing to cherish and celebrate.
“The growth of Railways symbolises the growth of Nation and It is a matter of pride for every Indian to know the history of Railways in India. This Photographic Exhibition will be more interesting to the viewers since it enables them to have a vivid glimpses of how the railways in India evolved and pressed forward during the first 100 years of its service,” he added.
Dr. Nagender, Director, Salar Jung Museum, lauded the efforts of Indian Railways in showcasing various facets of railway infrastructure and operations through a Photo Exhibition. He expressed his happiness to get associated with this intellectual endeavour by providing the space for the Exhibition.
The Exhibition is organised by the Public Relations Department of South Central Railway in an aesthetic manner. This has seven segments Viz. Locomotives, Trains, Railway Tunnels & Bridges, Station Architecture, Men at Work, Passenger Amenities and National Leaders & Railways. The Exhibition will be on display from 20th to 26th July and open for viewers from 10 AM to 05 PM on these days. Entry for the Exhibition is free.
