Health-Tip: Walk-Jog

A morning walk is considered a very good exercise to keep fit and maintain good health. There are many Walkers’ Clubs that periodically give advise to its members on how to make a morning walk more effective. Some say that morning walk should be undertaken without having any breakfast while some advocate a health drink like milk before the walk. It is advisable to have a light snack before embarking on the morning walk.

There are some health experts who say that only brisk walking gives good exercise. But it is not always so. Easy strides without straining the muscles calms the mind. But, walking should not exceed 45 minutes.

There are others who say only jogging and not walking gives good exercise for the body. It should be understood that walking or jogging is done only to make the body fit and not to build muscles.

Those who are above 45 years of age should only walk and not jog. If jogging is done without proper footwear, the calf muscles get strained.

Those who are between 35 and 45 years of age can attempt what is called a walk-jog. Walk 10 steps and jog for 10 steps. But do it only for not more than 45 minutes.
