Hyderabad, Sept 17 (INN): GHMC Commissioner M T Krishna Babu has said that GHMC is all set for smooth conduct of Ganesh immersion on Sept 18.
The Commissioner along with Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Amith Garg, IPS, has inspected the immersion arrangements around the Hussain Sagar. The Commissioner said that GHMC has set up 33 platforms around the Hussain Sagar to place the cranes and in all 71 cranes will be used for immersion purpose throughout the City.
GHMC is utilizing the services of 2,300 staff for attending sanitation work round the clock and 25 additional vehicles for removal of garbage as and when the need arises, he said. The maintenance works on the enroute of Ganesh procession is being attended by GHMC in coordination with National Highways and Roads & Buildings, he added.
He further directed the Zonal Commissioners to be in close coordination with the concerned Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) while taking up maintenance works on enroute of Ganesh immersion.
The Commissioner opined that unlike last year’s experience the clearing of the garbage will be completed by 9 AM on Sept 19 and further stated that the work will be commenced right from the early morning 4 AM on war footing basis. He further opined that the rate of immersion of Ganesha idols may increase 10 to 20 per cent than that of last year, keeping in view of growing interest among the public.
As a precautionary measure, the GHMC has deputed 85 swimmers as life guards and Tourism department is also making similar arrangements with swimmers and boats, he said. The Commissioner said that the GHMC, Police and Tourism Department are ready to face any untoward incidents during immersion. The Commissioner directed all the wings of the GHMC to be on high alert and be available for smooth conduct of the Ganesh immersion.
Additional Commissioner of Police Amith Garg has said that the authorities have arranged a bigger crane opposite Marriot Hotel (Viceroy Hotel) in order to tackle with immersion of Ganeshas coming from Secunderabad area. He further said that all wings of Police Department are alert to tackle the situation.
Sri R. Dhan Singh, Engineer-in-Chief, Smt. K. Siva Parvathi, Zonal Commissioner (Central) and senior officials from GHMC, HMWS&SB, HMDA and Police Departments have participated in the visit. (
