In September, 2011 Facebook rolled out a new feature Top Stories but user groups almost immediately sprung up on the social networking site to protest the change.
Facebook appears to have taken note of user dissent with the Top Stories feature and decided to hand over the controls to users themselves which allows them to sort their News Feed. They can choose to display Recent Stories on top if they wish to.
However, many users have reported that Top Stories have altogether disappeared from their News Feeds.
“Now you have a new way of sorting your News Feed: most recent stories first. You can also continue to view highlighted stories first, followed by recent stories, like what you see today,” Mark Tonkelowitz, engineering manager at Facebook, posted on the official Facebook blog.
