The first wire sling bridge ever built on the sea in India stood proudly as a fine example for the engineering marvel that is created by Indian engineers. The 5.6 km long bridge built at a cost of Rs.1600 crores, at Mumbai will connect Bandra (Mumbai south) and Worli (Mumbai west) cities. This Bandra Worli Sea Link (BWSL) will be inaugurated by Congress party Chief Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, today.
This additional sea connectivity not only reduces the load on road traffic but also, shortens the distance between the two cities by 2.1 km and reduces the journey time by 40 minutes.
People of Mumbai now can have a sigh of relief for travelling on the luxurious 8 lanes-wide bridge while enjoying the sea breeze, instead of suffocating in the traffic pollution, waiting in the unending traffic jams..
