Earthquake hits southwest China
An earthquake of 6.1magnitude on the Richter scale hit the southwest China’s towns of Sichuan and Yunnan provinces on Saturday.
According to reports, about 32 people were killed and at least 258,000 houses were destroyed. More than 400 were injured and around 8, 00,000 people were affected. About 40,000 were evacuated to safe places.
The authorities launched a massive rescue and relief effort in the affected areas.
