West Bengal CM, Paswan and Prasad escape bomb attack
West Bengal chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, Union ministers Jitin Prasad and Ram Vilas Paswan, WB industries minister Nirupam Sen narrowly escaped a land mine ambush by Maoists at Salboni in West Midnapore district on Sunday. An Intensive Explosion Device( IED) blast snapped a high tension electric wire and riddled a police car with shrapnel and pellets, injuring six policemen. Luckily none were electrocuted.
They were returning after laying down the foundation stone for JIndal’s 10 MT steel plant at Salboni.
The cars of the CM, Sen and the Union ministers had passed the spot a couple of minutes earlier. All the six injured policemen were tailing the car of Union minister of state for steel Jitin Prasad.
West Midnapore SP Rajesh Singh said that the modus operandi suggested that it was the handiwork of Maoists.
