Tum Mile Movie Review
Tom Mile is an engrossing love story imaginatively captured on film with a multi-layered structure symbolizing a devastating storm within and without.
Akshay (Emraan Hashmi) a wannabe artist meets rich social activist Sanjana (Soha Ali Khan) in cape town and they become a couple. She becomes busy espousing the cause of global warming and other feminist causes, while he struggles as an artist and had to depend on her money.
A clash of egos and broader differences of opinion between them makes the couple get separated. They meet in Mumbai after six years and the city is drowned with unprecedented floods like what happened on July 26, 2005.
Akshay remembers how Sanjana is terribly afraid of water and they come together in the calamitous storm. But will the storm within them give way to bright sunshine? You will have to watch the movie to find out.
Emraan Hashmi comes out with one of his finest performances to date and he carries his role very convincingly. Soha Ali Khan comes out with a mature portrayal and the ease with which she enacts her role makes the character she played much more credible. The on-screen chemistry between Emraan and Soha is electrifying and should be seen to be believed. Sachin Khedekar and Mantra fit their roles like ‘T’. All others are incidental and adequate.
The story of Tum Mile has been imaginatively crafted by Ankur Tewary and dialogues are crisp and punchy. Director Kunal Deshmukh’s screenplay is gripping and his direction is innovative giving a different style to the narration. Preetam Chakraborty’s music compositions are melodious, foot-tapping and eminently hummable.
Cinematography by Prakash Kutty is of international standard. Editing gives the necessary nudge to the narration. Background music and sound design are top class.
Tum mile is the second film of director Kunal Deshmukh after his debut “Jannat”. Tum Mile is an endearing, sensitive film very sensibly narrated. Top class performances by Emraan and Soha and great music make this love story Tum Mile worthy of rapt attention.
