Sonia Gandhi, president AICC and chairperson United Progressive Alliance will undertake a seven-hour whirlwind tour of Potti Sriramulu Nellore and Prakasam districts Today.
She will launch the second phase of the Rajiv Arogya Sri comprehensive health insurance scheme for all districts in Andhra Pradesh.
This is a unique health insurance and health care scheme covering all the people below the poverty line in the state. Under this scheme, the state government pays the premium. The persons who need treatment or surgery are then directed by Arogya Mitra to one of the 127 notified network hospitals, who will undertake treatment and provide medicines. Around 227 types of ailments are covered in this scheme. All white-card holders are eligible for this health care scheme free of cost.
The scheme had been introduced in a couple of districts first on experimental basis and now it is being extended throughout the state.
