The engagement of tennis star Sania Mirza to Mohammed Sohrab Mirza has been called off. This breaking news of a broken engagement has been divulged by Imran, father of Sania, who also doubles up as her coach and manager.
Sohrab, son of Adil Mirza and Noora Begum, own Universal Bakers chain in Hyderabad. He is studying MBA in England. Sania and Sohrab are long time friends and their engagement ceremony was held on July 10, 2009.
Sania Mirza categorically refused to get into the why and what of the matter, but confirmed her engagement was off. “We were friends for half a decade, but found ourselves incompatible during our engagement period. I wish Sohrab the best in life,” she said.
Sania has turned her focus on to the tennis courts. She flies out to Kuala Lumpur late on Friday, where she leads India’s challenge in the Fed Cup Asia Oceania Group II competition, starting February 2.
