Discussions on the Satyam scam in the AP Assembly turned into blatant mud-slinging. TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu alleged that Satyam Raju laundered money which found its way into the firms floated by YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s son. He also accused YSR of shielding Satyam Raju from investigations by SEBI and SFIO.
Refuting the allegations, Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy said it was N Chandrababu Naidu who helped Satyam Raju by seating him next to Bill Clinton. He further alleged that Naidu’s son and Ramalinga Raju’s son were classmates and roommates while studying in USA.
YSR alleged that Satyam and Mytas had been brought into prominence by the then TDP government headed by Naidu. He added that an Income Tax inquiry into Satyam affairs in 2003 based on a complaint by an MP had been scuttled by TDP and BJP.
With TDP and Congress washing their dirty linen in public, no one is sure who helped the Rajus and who benefited by Raju’s generosity.
