Mullapudi Venkata Ramana passes away

Legendary writer Mullapudi Venkata Ramana passed away at his residence Abhiramapuram in Chennai. He was suffering with illness for the past few days. He was 79. Bapu – Ramana combination churned out many classics in Telugu film industry.

Bapu and Ramana first met in 1942 in Madras. Kothi Kommachi is Ramana’s autobiography. Mullapudi Venkata Ramana started his career as writer with the movie Raktha Sambandham in 1962. Sreerama Rajyam starring Balakrishna is his last movie which is still under production. Bapu- Ramana stayed in a same house for 50 years.

Mullapudi Vara who had directed Naa Alludu and Visakha Express is son of Venakta Ramana. He was awarded the Raja Lakshmi Literary Award for the year 1995. Ironically, he was not conferred even Padma Shree by the government of India.

Ramana had started his career as a journalist. Born on June 28, 1931 in Dhawaleswaram, he is known for his hilarious style. Muthyala Muggu brought him fame in film industry. He turned producer with the movie Sakshi.
