BSP on Saturday withdrew its support to the UPA government on the grounds that the Centre has failed to deal with the menace of inflation and is neglecting Uttar Pradesh.
Mayawati accused UPA of meting out step-motherly treatment to her party and Uttar Pradesh government. She has written to President Pratibha Patil, Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee and Congress president Sonia Gandhi informing about her party’s withdrawal of support.
Mayawati cited inflation and UPA’s failure to keep promises for welfare of sarvajan samaj (all communities) as reason for withdrawal of support. She said her party, which has 17 MPs, will decide on no-confidence vote on merit if such a motion is moved in Parliament.
