Lovely Movie Review
Lavanya aka Lovely (Shanvi) has a doting father Mangalampalli Maharadhi (Rajendra Prasad) owner of a multi-crore company Shreyas. He brings up the daughter in a methodical manner and grooms her well. Akash (Adi) is a carefree character living with his brother and sister-in-law (Harshavardhan and Satya Krishnan). He has a close friend Kittu (Vennela Kishore).
Kittu (Vennela Kishore) has a Facebook friend Lalli (Chinmayi) and they decide to meet. As the fates would have it, Akash goes to the rendezvous masquerading as Kittu while Lavanya arrives in place of her friend Lalli. It is love at first sight and as it starts blooming, Maharadhi becomes the intractable hurdle as he develops dislike towards Akash.
The rest of the story deals with the Tom-and-Jerry games played by Akash and Maharadhi leading to a predictable climax.
Adi is energetic and as a commercial hero is impressive in his dances and fights. Shanvi needs to hone her skills. Vennela Kishore has a meaty role and performs well. Rajendra Prasad is adept at both emotional and comedy situations. Harshavardhan is ok. Ahuthi Prasad and Paruchuri Gopalakrishna fit their cameos. All others do their bit.
The story has nothing novel and the plot of heroine’s father becoming a stumbling block for the hero-heroine romance is as old as the Indian cinema. The incidents skewed towards comic interludes dilutes the characterisation of the lead actors. Dialogues are the saving grace of the narration, which tends to slow down progressively because of sloppy screenplay. Music is good and the songs are picturised well and so are the action sequences. Cinematography has nothing much to rave about.
Lovely is a regular mainstream commercial film and can be seen once for the youthful antics of Adi and of course the comedy portion of the film. However, those who liked Adi’s debut film Prema Kavali will be disappointed with Lovely.
