Vijaya Nirmala, the first Indian female director to enter the Guinness Book of Records, celebrates her birthday today.
Vijaya Nirmala’s entered the film industry as a child artiste in Panduranga Mahatmiyam. She made her debut as a heroine in Tollywood with the film Rangula Raatnam. She acted in more than 250 films in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam.
Vijaya Nirmala and Krishna acted together for the first time in Saakshi directed by Bapu in 1967. Together they acted as the lead pair in 47 films.
As producer Vijaya Nirmala made 15 films under the banner of Vijaya Krishna Movies. She directed 42 films in South Indian languages. Her first directorial venture in Telugu was Meena in 1971.
Actress Jayasudha is the niece of Vijaya Nirmala.
