Gambhir’s century takes India to 296 for 3

India won the toss and elected to bat in the 1st innings of the 3rd test at Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi. Soon the hosts were reduced to 27 for 2 after Sehwag(1) and Dravid(11) departed, with Lee and Johnson claiming a wicket each.

Gautam Gambhir then put on 130 runs with Sachin Tendulkar (68) and later shared 139 runs with VVS Laxman (54 not out) for the unbroken fourth wicket.

India ended the 1st day of the 3rd test with the score at 296 for 3
