Dr Manmohan Singh takes oath for a 2nd term
Dr Manmohan Singh, 76, on Friday took oath, administered by President Pratibha Patil, as the Prime Minister of India, heading a multi-party coalition government, for a second consecutive term along with 19 Cabinet ministers .
There were four new faces in the first edition of the Union Cabinet that will be followed up by another expansion of the Council of Ministers in the next few days.
Among the new entrants in the Cabinet were Mamata Banerjee, chif of the Trinamool Congress, Rajasthan state Congress president CP Joshi, Congress general secretary M Veerappa Moily, and former Karnataka chief minister S M Krishna.
The portfolios of the cabinet ministers will be announced soon.
