Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy, Chief Minister, Government of Andhra Pradesh, is celebrating his 60th birthday today. As usual, he is privately celebrating his birthday at Goa with only his family members in attendance.
YSR successfully ended the rule of TDP in the state in 2004 and dislodged Nara Chandrababu Naidu who was CM for 9 years. In his tenure of five years, YSR launched major irrigation projects under Jalayagnam.
YSR implemented a slew of welfare schemes for the poor and down-trodden. His health scheme Arogyasri is unique and is very popular with the masses. The NREGS, which is widely believed to be the main cause for UPA’s second term at the centre, was extensively introduced in Andhra Pradesh.
YSR won a second term in the 2009 elections and he is promising to make the state of Andhra Pradesh the no 1 in India in all aspects.
