Usain Bolt achieves golden sprint double
Usain Bolt, of Jamaica, who shattered the 100 meters dash record with a timing of 9.69 seconds four days ago, broke the 200-meter world record with a timing of 19.30 seconds, to complete the first Olympic golden sprint double in 24 years.
On the eve of his 22nd birthday, Bolt raced past the former world record of 19.32 set by American legend Michael Johnson at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
The last time a golden sprint double was achieved was in Los Angeles Olympics 1984 by Carl Lewis. Bolt became the 9th man to achieve the 100-200 meter Olympic sprint double.
