Letter war between DGP and CEO of AP
There is a war of letters going on between SSP Yadav, Director General of Police (DGP), Andhra Pradesh and IV Subba Rao, Chief Election Officer (CEO) since a couple of weeks.
It may be recalled that the DGP was shunted out of office by the Election Commission (EC) for violating the election code and appointed AK Mohanti as DGP.
SSP Yadav has written a letter to CEO asking why he was removed from his post for which he received a reply. He wrote a second letter to CEO asking for some more clarifications for which the latter sent him a copy of the proceedings of the EC.
The DGP wrote a third letter to the CEO asking the latter’s remarks on the complaints given by opposition parties on the former. The CEO got vexed and informed the matter to the Chief Secretary, who summoned the DGP on this issue.
The CEO stated that he would take the entire matter to the notice of the EC. Meanwhile, opposition parties are gunning for the removal of SSP Yadav as the DGP as he violated constitutional propriety by writing letters to the CEO.
