Dr Manmohan Singh asks Pak President to act on terror
Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on Tuesday met Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari at Yekaterinburg in Russia, on the sidelines of BRIC and SCO summit meets, and is understood to have made it clear that Pakistan should take concrete action against terrorism directed against India.
Dr. Singh is understood to have conveyed to Zardari India’s unhappiness over Pakistan’s inaction against terrorism directed against India.
The Prime Minister is also understood to have expressed disappointment over the release of the Jamat-ud-Dawa (JuD) chief Hafeez Mohammed Saeed, who is believed to be one of those who had masterminded the 26/11 attacks.
Dr Singh has reportedly asked the Pakistan government to dismantle terror infrastructure on its soil.
Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) members consist of Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan while India, Pakistan and Iran have observer status. The BRIC members consist of Brazil, Russia, India and China.
