Central Bureau of Investigation to probe Satyam scam

Based on the formal request of the Andhra Pradesh government, the Union Government has ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe the Rs 7,000 Cr fraud in Satyam Computer Services involving its promoters B Ramalinga Raju, his family members and others.

With multiple agencies, AP police, SEBI and the Serious Fraud Investigations Office (SFIO) investigating Satyam scam, the Union Government directed CBI to pool experts and set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the fraud.

Satyam’s founder Ramalinga Raju, his brother Rama Raju, chief financial officer S Vadlamani, auditors S. Gopalakrishnan and Talluri Srinivas, are currently in judicial custody.
