Eenadu is the cat and mouse game between a suspected terrorist and the police commissioner which ends up with a twist in the tale.
Srinivas Rao (Kamal Hasan) calls up the police commissioner Eshwar Prasad (Venkatesh) and demands the release of four hard core terrorists who are now in jail. He threatens to blow up the city if his demands are not met. Srinivas uses HiTech telephony and the police cannot trace the origin of his calls.
At a high level meeting, it is decided to release the four terrorists and the task is given to two police officers. Srinivas continuously monitors the progress of the handing over of the four terrorists to him at a place prescribed by him.
Then comes the twist, a very unexpected turn of events leading to a thought provoking climax.
Kamal Hasan, as usual, is extremely good with his portrayal of his role as a common man turned terrorist who has a secret agenda. Venkatesh is sauve and stylish as the police officer with a mission. Lakshmi, Ganesh Venkatraman, Anuja Iyer and Poonam Kaur have given satisfactory performances. All others are quite adequate.
Eenadu is the Telugu remake of Neeraj Pande’s A Wednesday and made with a few changes to suit the Telugu audience. Debut director Chakri Toleti has come out with a good film that reflects the fears and anger of common man against terrorists and their senseless violence. Cinematography by Manoj Soni is good. Back ground music and sound design are effective.
Eenadu is not a regular mainstream film but should be watched for the excellent characterization, slick presentation and the performances of Kamal Hasan and Venkatesh.
