Dissidence came to the fore in a big way in the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).
The rebel leader and former MP D Ravindra Naik was roughed up by TRS activists near the party office when he tried to attend the state executive meeting. He later filed SC/ST atrocities case against party activists while accusing KCR of betraying the cause of Telangana.
The TRS appears to be heading for a split. The TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao made a statement that the rebellion in the party was being fuelled by those who were opposed to separate Telangana state. He also stated that there was a plan to liquidate him him to scuttle the Telangana movement..
For past 20 days, the rebels in the party have been demanding the resignation of KCR accusing him of converting the party into a family affair and alleged that he had diluted the movement for separate state.
However, the state executive committee of TRS which met yesterday unanimously elected KCR as the president of the party.
