AR Rahman wins triple Oscar nominations

Slumdog Millionaire directed by Danny Boyle has won nominations in 10 categories at the 81st Oscar Academy Awards including Best Motion Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Cinematography, Sound Mixing, Sound & Film editing.

Danny Boyle and screenplay writer Simon Beaufoy are in the reckoning and so is cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle.

AR Rahman has been nominated in three categories including Best Original Score and Original Song.

Slumdog Millionaire is based on the book Q and A by Indian diplomat-writer Vikas Swarup. It narrates the journey of a poor young man from the slums of Mumbai, who ends up winning one crore rupees in a game show Kaun Banega Karorpati, the Indian version of American TV show Who Wants To Be a Millionaire.
