Amitabh Bachchan, who so far steadfastly refused offers to act in Hollywood films, has now signed to star in director Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby, a 3D adaptation of the classic F. Scott Fitzgerald novel of the same name, which is being made by Warner Bros Pictures with a budget of $125 million. Big B plays the role of Meyer Wolfsheim in the film.
The cast of the film includes Titanic star Leonardo DiCaprio, Scottish-Australian actress Isla Fisher, Tobey Maguire, Joel Edgerton and Carey Mulligan and debutant Elizabeth Debicki.
The film will be shot in Australia and will be in 3D and 2D formats. Director Baz Luhrmann has earlier made Moulin Rouge which had the Chumma Chumma De De song from Big B’s Hindi film Hum.
