Hyderabad, Sept 4 (INN): Osmania University foreign relations office has conducted Sixth Degree Award Ceremony for foreign students today at the PGRR CDE Auditorium on OU campus. In a glittering ceremony, about 120 foreign students from various disciplines have been conferred Degrees. The students are from Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Nepal, Somalia, China and NRI students.
Speaking on the occasion as Guest of Honour His Excellency Hassan Nourian, Consul General of Islamic Republic of Iran, said that students from Iran are satisfied with the teaching facilities at Osmania University and in the near future they intend to sign MOU with OU in the field of faculty and student exchange programme.
He said that Islamic Republic of Iran enjoys the first place in the educational generation in the Middle East region and 16th in the world and educational centers in Iran are making fast and good progress. He hoped that the educational relationship between Iran and India will flourish further.
OU VC Prof S Satyanarayana said that Off-shore studies help students to expose themselves to multicultural milieu and this benefits them more than that of reading hundred books. He hoped that in future the number of students from foreign countries will grow.
OU Registrar Prof MSN Reddy said that knowledge gained helps students to blossom into a perfect human being.
Prof C Venugopal Rao, Director, UFRO said that OU is now a home to about 4500 foreign students hailing from as many as 80 countries. He said that during this academic year 2013-14 OU admitted 1500 foreign students in various courses and this is 15 per cent more intake compared to the last academic year.
OU Examinations Controller Prof G Bhikshamaiah and UFRO Joint Director, Dr G B Reddy, Senior Professors, Administrative Officers, Principals, Directors, Non-teaching Staff and students participated in the event.
