OU Asks Affiliated Colleges Not to Offer Courses of Other Universities

Hyderabad, August 19 (INN): Osmania University Registrar Prof. MSN Reddy has instructed the managements of all the colleges affiliated to Osmania University not to offer any course under regular/distance mode of other universities.

The instructions were issued in view of a public notice issued by the University Grants Commission cautioning against the study centres/franchising institutions which are offering various Degree/PG programmes of Private/Deemed Universities. Further, the OU Registrar said that the colleges affiliated to Osmania University should not allow any franchising arrangement with private coaching institutions, and should not allow their premises even for the purpose of conducting courses through distance mode, since UGC does not permit the Universities to offer courses outside their territorial jurisdiction.

Prof Reddy said that the college managements should adhere to UGC norms and any violation of the rules and regulations will be viewed seriously and Osmania University will initiate disciplinary action against the erring institutions.
