Kolkata girl wins prestigious Stevenson Prize
Mahima Khanna, a resident of Alipore in Kolkata, has won one of Cambridge University’s highest honors when she topped the 2010-11 MPhil class of economics to receive the prestigious Stevenson Prize.
The 23 year-old continues Kolkata’s legacy of representing academic brilliance in haloed global circles, when she became the third Indian after Noble laureate Amartya Sen and Sir Partho Dasgupta who won the award in 1956 and 1967 respectively.
Mahima Khanna works in Mumbai as a trade analyst and is often involved in Planning Commission assignments. On receiving the news of winning the award, she exclaimed, “Imagine sharing the roll of honor with the gods in my field of study!”
