Taking into consideration the need for temple management, a diploma course is being offered by Somnath Sanskrit University. The first batch of 500 students has appeared for the final examinations and awaiting results.
The unique course on Mandir Vyavasthapan has four papers on aspects of religion as well as practical management of temples. Subjects include temple architecture, rituals, event management, crowd management, Sanskrit, English, accounts and law.
Candidates have to pass class XII to gain admission. Experts in various fields are invited as visiting faculty. The university runs the course at Bhagwat Vidhyapith, Dwarka, Sidhpur, Somnath and Dakor. It also launched courses last year on vaastu shastra , astrology and karmkand . Encouraged by full batches for these, it’s now planning a diploma in yoga.
