Andhra Pradesh gets more Technical Institutions
The All India Council of Technical Education on Wednesday approved another 57 engineering colleges, 21 MCA, 7 MBA and 4 pharmacy colleges in the state. More colleges are expected to gain approval in the next two weeks. Of the newly sanctioned engineering colleges, nearly 10 are exclusively for women.
At present, there are 338 engineering colleges that offer 1.21 lakh seats and 224 pharmacy colleges with 13,300 seats. There are 496 MCA and 360 MBA colleges in the state that offer 33,910 and 25,818 seats respectively.
Interestingly, nearly 70 per cent of the new colleges are located in and around Hyderabad. Most of the colleges are being set up by managements which are already running professional colleges.
The state government has decided to grant functioning status to all the new engineering colleges that secure AICTE approval by July 15, as Eamcet counselling for admissions into engineering stream will begin from July 16. It will also include new MBA and MCA colleges that will secure approval by July 8 in the ICET counselling from July 9.
