886 Eng colleges & 1,084 B-Schools to come up
Though the global meltdown reduced the aura of campus placements, the demand for starting professional institutions in India is at an all-time high.
According to the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the regulatory body for professional technical education, there is more demand for colleges of engineering and management than pharmacy, hotel management and catering technology or architecture.
The All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has received a total of 886 applications for starting engineering colleges and 1,084 applications for new management institutes.
Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Kerala account for almost 69% of the country’s engineering graduates.
