Ye Maya Chesave Movie Review
Ye Maya Chesave is a sensitive emotional romantic drama sensibly narrated and beautifully presented.
Karthik (Naga Chaitanya) lives with his parents (Sanjay Swaroop and Surekhavani) in a rented house and has a passion for cinema. He completes his graduation in engineering and makes serious attempts to become a film director. With help from his friend (Krishnudu) he joins as an assistant to a noted director (Puri Jagannath). He has a love-at-first-sight situation with Jesse (Samantha) who is his neighbor and daughter of the landlord. Jesse, a software engineer, does not respond to Karthik’s initial overtures but then there is a twist in the tale when Jesse’s marriage is being finalized by her parents (Devan and Laxmi Ramakrishnan) and two seemingly insurmountable social norms… Karthik is 22 years old and Jessy is 2 years elder than him. Again Kathik is a Telugu Hindu and Jesse is a Malayalee Christian.
Will Karthik achieve his ambition to become a film director? Will Karthik and Jesse unite in love overcoming the barriers of age and religion? The rest of the story answers these questions.
Naga Chaitanya gives a very natural performance and has gone under the skin of the character he is playing. He also looks confident while enacting his role. The debut girl Samantha, with her expressive facial muscles, performs with aplomb. She will certainly become the darling of the audience. Krishnudu maturely essays his role. Sanjay Swaroop and Surekhavani do well in their roles as parents. Shimbu and Trisha are their natural selves in a cameo. All others are more than adequate in their roles.
Gautam Menon’s story, screenplay and direction are simply brilliant and he narrates the sensitive story with total command. Dialoges by Anuradha are topical and conversational and easy on the ears. AR Rahman’s music is the highlight of the film and it enhances its emotional quotient. Anant Sreeram’s lyrics are meaningful. Cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa is vibrant, visually appealing and enhances the various moods of the film. Editing by Anthony keeps the pace of narration in tact. Flexi from London and Carl Lawson from USA have given thematic choreography. Production values are good.
Ye Maya Chesave is a romantic drama that scintillatingly unfolds into a sensitive emotional drama while entertaining the audience with believable characters and sensible episodes. Do not miss this romantic love story that is deftly crafted by Gautam Menon.
