With film ‘The Lovers’ Bollywood actor Abhay Deol is stepping into Hollywood. The actor says that American filmmakers slot Bollywood as a “genre”, marked by colors, music, pretty women and well-built men.
Abhay said that, “Filmmakers in the US see Bollywood with an amused curiosity. For them, musicals traditionally are rare in Hollywood, so that automatically puts all of Bollywood into one genre.”
He further added, “The word brings up images of bright colors, music, beautiful women and muscular men. Funnily enough, most of them haven’t seen any Bollywood film but the name is something they are aware of”.
‘The Lovers’ was earlier titled as ‘Singularity’. It also casts Bipasha Basu, Tamsin Egerton, Josh Hartnett and Alice Englert. The film is directed by Roland Joffe.
