Tom Cruise in MGM’s Magnificent Seven remake

Tom Cruise is likely to star and co-produce a remake of the 1960 movie Magnificent Seven. The Studio MGM is putting together a team of writers for the script and has not yet zeroed in on any director for the project.

The original Magnificent Seven starred Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, James Coburn, Robert Vaughn, Brad Dexter and Horst Buchholz as a group of American gunmen hired to protect a small Mexican village from a group of savage bandits.

This film itself was a remake of Seven Samurai (1954) and spawned three sequels and was later remade as a TV series which was on air from 1998 to 2000.

Tom Cruise last film Mission Impossible 4 did decent business. He will soon be seen in musical Rock of Ages and in thriller One Shot.
