IIPM Founder Arindam Chaudhuri was today named in an FIR filed by Delhi police against IIPM (Indian Institute of Planning and Management) for advertizing that its programs were approved by AICTE and UGC-whereas the management courses offered by the institute were just independent courses without any approval. IIPM is one of India’s biggest business schools and offers a variety of planning and management courses which have been a real advantage to lakhs of its students. Speaking on his version of the FIR, Mr.Chaudhuri denied the allegations and said that UGC and AICTE were targeting IIPM and it had voluntary kept away from recognition due to incidents of corruption noticed in UGC. The complaint was filed by UGC-alleging that IIPM is collecting huge course fee and claiming to run courses which had AICTE approval. IIPM maintains that it always discourages students from applying in case they are looking for an approved course. It is to be seen how this section 420 case of cheating would turn-up against Mr.Chaudhuri and his father Malay Chaudhuri-the director of IIPM as it is currently being investigated.
