Tollywood producer C Kalyan has been arrested by AP CID in connection with his alleged links with Bhanu who is accused in the Maddelacheruvu Suri. According to police sources, Kalyan was arrested after getting some vital information from the interrogation of another producer Singanamala Ramesh. There were allegations that Kalyan had financial and property dealings with Bhanu. Police are trying to unearth the possible link between Kalyan, Ramesh and Bhanu regarding some land disputes with Suri.
The producer is also said to be involved in extortion cases. Mohammed Ashraf, managing partner of Shalimar Video Company and Mohammed Ashfaq of Universal Home Entertainment had lodged complaints with the police against Mr Kalyan alleging that he and Ramesh had duped them of Rs 34.75 lakh each after promising to give VCD, DVD rights for the movies Komaram Puli and Mahesh Khaleja.
Kalyan has co-produced the films Komaram Puli and Khaleja with Singanamala Ramesh. He has also produced Param Veer Chakra. He is said to be in deep financial trouble after all these three films flopped at the box office. He also produced successful films like Rakta Charitra 1 & 2, Chandamama and Mantra.
Police are said to suspect that interrogation of Kalyan and Ramesh would bring out the motive for Suri’s murder and would also reveal the benami properties of Suri allegedly held by the two producers.
