The Eega Effect: Julayi And DCM Shifted To August
The phenomenal success of SS Rajamouli’s Eega is having its effect on the release of other films. With Rs 34 crores first weekend collections, and registering 80% plus occupation for all shows on Monday and Tuesday, it is believed that the exhibitors are unwilling to shift Eega from their theatres. The exhibitors are said to be too happy to milk money out of Eega as long as possible, at least for four weeks.
Trade Pundits say Eega is destined to be the all time highest collection film. The first weekend overseas collection is Rs 13.2 crores. Interestingly, Eega is attracting audience of all ages, from kids to senior citizens, families in addition to both class and mass.
Eega is assured of a solo run until August first week as all the films scheduled to release in July have been shifted to August.
Producer DVV Danayya released a press note stating that his film Julayi will release on August 9. Incidentally, producer BVSN Prasad also issued a press release saying that his film Devudu Chesina Manushulu will release on August 8. It looks as if the release of one of these films will be rescheduled again to avoid a clash between Trivikram Srinivas and Puri Jagannath.
It is being rumoured that Ajith’s dubbed film David Billa will also be shifted to an August release. Small budget films anyway can’t withstand the Eega tornado.
