Telugu audience gives Mani Ratnam some relief
Mani Ratnam’s Telugu version of much hyped Raavanan earned over Rs 4 crore in first few days, which is a good omen.
Villain, in fact has no Telugu actor. Mani Ratnam evaded a question during its promotion in Hyderabad. Hindi version was worst affected. Abhishek Bachchan was not mature enough to play the role of Beera. Amitabh Bachchan blamed sad editing of his son’s role. The seven-time National award winning editor of Raavan, A Sreekar Prasad, says he stands by his editing. Raavan is running for cover.
Mani Ratnam gave too much importance to Hindi version prior to release of the film. Media in the north India was unkind of the film; Taran Adash gave only 1.5 out of 5.
