Super Star Krishna, the trendsetter in Tollywood announced his retirement from both films and politics. He said due to health reasons he is retiring from politics and since he is not starring in any more films frequently, one can consider that he has retired from films aswell. He said he couldn’t realise his dream of featuring in the role of great maratha warrior king Chatrapati Sivaji.
Speaking in a private programme in Jubilee Hills, Krishna said he always wanted to produce the film of Chatrapati Shivaji and now that he had decided to retire, it would remain an unfulfilled dream. Kirshna’s legacy is carried out by his son Mahesh Babu who is now the top star popularly known as Prince. Krishna started Padmalaya banner and produced several mega budget films. Alluri Sitarama Raju, Mosagallaku Mosagadu and Paadi Pantalu are among his outstanding productions. He was the first hero to have acted in a James Bond style film. His Goodhachary 116 was a big hit and from then on, he came to be called Andhra James Bond. He has produced the first Telugu cinema scope film (Alluri Sita Rama Raju), the first 70 MM Telugu movie and the first DTS movie (Telugu Veera Levara). He has also directed 17 films. He was elected to the Parliament from the Congress party. He would always remain as the first super star of the Telugu screen.
