A new formula seems to be emerging in Bollywood regarding the classification of successful films. The new benchmark is that any film getting a collection of more than Rs 100 crore is declared as successful.
Previously, the success was measured either when the film gets breakeven or the film running for 50 or 100 days. That is passé now.
The Rs 100 crore phenomenon at the box-office started with Aamir Khan’s Ghajini, which collected almost Rs 140 crore. The actor did it again with 3 idiots, which earned a phenomenal Rs 315 crore. However, Dabangg (Rs 170 crore) and Golmaal 3 (Rs 110 crore) kept the Rs 100 crore collection benchmark in 2010. Now Bodyguard has crossed the Rs 100 cr mark in 2011.
