Tollywood actor Srihari and his wife Shanthi have embarked on social service by adopting three villages in Ranga Reddy district which are fluoride affected.
Srihari and Shanthi instituted Akshara Foundation, in memory of their daughter who died young, and Srihari contributes almost 50% of his earnings to the funds of the Foundation.
Srihari’s foundation recently constructed two mineral water plants in the vicinity of the three adopted villages which were inaugurated by the local MLA K Laxma Reddy. The villagers are being supplied with fluoride-free protected drinking water from these two mineral water plants.
The Akshara Foundation also supplied notebooks and school uniforms to around 2000 students in the three villages.
Srihari says over the next few years the activities of the Akshara Foundation will be extended to some more villages. He also appealed to others to come forward to supply fluoride-free water to villages in Ranga Reddy and Nalgonda districts.
