Sonu Sood tasted success with films like Jodhaa Akbar and Singh is Kinng. He has now signed for a Hollywood venture. He plays a taxi driver in Dubai for a multi-lingual feature film titled City of Life written, directed and produced by Ali F. Mostafa, a graduate of the London Film School.
The film revolves around three characters — a privileged Emirati man, a less fortunate and disillusioned Indian taxi driver and a Western woman. Sonu plays the taxi driver named Basu who runs a taxi in Dubai and wants to become an actor. The three never meet, yet they change each other’s lives. It explores the complex network that exists in an emerging multicultural society’s race, ethnicity and class divide; and it examines how random interactions and their consequences can irrevocably impact another’s life.
The film will go on floors in February 2009. The film will be in Arabic, Hindi and English and will be shot entirely in the UAE, with a predominantly UAE-based cast and crew.
