Kudan Shah’s upcoming film “P Sey PM Tak” had to bear the brunt of the censor board after almost 40 voice cuts were recommended before the film could be released. The film is about a prostitute who quite unexpectedly becomes the Chief Minsiter of Maharashtra and now ambitions to become the PM. The censor cuts were not just against vulgarity or crude language, but instead many were references to celebrities such as Jayalalithaa, Salman Khan etc, all of whom having pending cases against them and also being jailed at some point of time. It’s reported that these references to them were not disrespectful, but were still asked to be removed.
Kundan Shah had to abide by the censor board’s decision, though one board member Ashoke Pandit, who is close to Kundan tweeted against the one-man arrogance of the board, in a possible reference to the chief of the board Pankaj Nilhani.
P Sey PM Tak released today and has Meenakshi Dixit playing the lead role, with the film being made as a political satire.
