Second movie syndrome

After tasting huge success with first film, some directors falter with the second and recharge later. There are several people in Telugu film industry, who joined the top league of directors with their first movie.

Jagarlamudi Radhakrishna (Krish) achieved exceptional success with his debut film Gamyam. His second film Vedam carries the burden of great expectations.

Ram Gopal Varma, Teja, Karunakaran, Puri Jagannath, VN Aditya, VV Vinayak, Surender Reddy, Samudra, Sukumar etc had tasted the second cinema syndrome.

Raghavendra Rao, director of over 100 movies did not give a hit with second film after super hit of first film.

Ram Gopal Varma’s second film Kshana Kshanam did not do well at the box office, after his first movie Shiva, which created many records.

Teja, whose first film Chitram did wonders at the box office, but failed with second moive ‘ Family Circus’.

VV Vinay’s debut film Aadi was successful. His second film Chennakeshava Reddy disappointed. Karunakaran’s first film Tholiprema established Pawan Kalyan as top star, but his second film Yuvakudu faired average.

VN Aditya’s Manasantha Nuvve was one of the blockbusters but his second film Sree Ram was pretty ordinary.

Sukumar’s Arya was a super hit and his second film Jagadam was utter flop. Surender Reddy had a hit with his first film Athanokkade, but his second film Ashok was below average.

Let’s hope Krish will rewrite box-office history with his second film Vedam.
