The Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) in Kolkata will soon be upgraded to the status of a university and will also be recognised as an institute of national importance.
In addition to a separate TV wing to the institute, a Centre for TV Excellence at SRFTI will be set up at a total cost of Rs 65 crore. This centre will have two TV floors to cater to the requirement of students. A new building is coming up for studies in animation and production management department.
The upgraded SRFTI along with the Pune-based Film and Television Institute (FTII) will cater to the increasing manpower requirement of the film and TV industry.
