The sessions court of Mumbai, the 2002 case hearing of hit-an-run trial involving the bollywood actor Salman Khan, today said that the final judgment will be announced on 06th May. The actor is being tried for culpable homicide not amounting to murder for allegedly killing one person and injuring four others. If convicted he faces a 10-year prison term.
The prosecution and defense lawyers concluded their arguments, the trial reached to end. While the defence claimed that the driver Ashok Singh was driving the car when the accident took place in Bandra, the prosecution contested it by pointing out that he was silent for almost 13 years. Both sides completed their final arguments on Monday.
While concluding his arguments, defence counsel Shrikant Shivade on Monday argued that the evidence of Salamn’s former police bodyguard, Ravindra Patil, should not be accepted because he died and is not available for cross-examination. However, the prosecution said enough opportunity had been given to the defence to cross-examine Patil.
